It wasn't my choice to move - to Virginia that is. My fiancé got into a ph.d program at Old Dominion. (Who can say no to a free education with stipend?) So we've relocated from Fort Collins, Colorado to Norfolk, Virginia. We picked our apartment completely by reviews and looking at maps online without ever seeing it in-person. Luckily it's downtown in the heart of all the good eats, across from a 150+ store mall, and ten blocks or so from the water and in a quasi-safe area. I love it so far.
Moving from laid-back Colorado to fast paced Virginia has been a little bit of a culture shock. I'm already sick of the "Why did you ever leave Colorado?!?" from most people I meet. I like it here. But I'm going to have to adjust to this hipster/culturally-aware environment.
So here's my blog. My beginnings learning about the culture here. And I really don't mean "snob" in a negative way, more like a "fully-absorbed" way. "Snob" just seems to roll off your tongue, ya know?
